Ninh Binh, 4 November 2025 – Ahead of their home clash with Gamba Osaka in the AFC Champions League Two 2025/26, Nam Dinh set their sights on securing a win to revive their campaign after a 0-3 loss in the reverse fixture in Japan. The Vietnamese champions are determined to make full use of their home advantage at Thien Truong Stadium.
As part of the AFC Champions League Two group stage, Nam Dinh are gearing up for a crucial home encounter against Gamba Osaka, scheduled for 19:15 on November 5 at Thien Truong Stadium. The match holds significant importance for the defending V.League 1 champions, who suffered a heavy 0-3 defeat in the first leg in Osaka, where they struggled to cope with the superior technique and tempo of their Japanese opponents.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, assistant coach Andre Lima acknowledged the challenge ahead but expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and spirit. “This will be a very tough game. We know Gamba Osaka are a strong side and one of the favourites to advance from this group. However, we’ve trained hard all week, worked with great focus, and are ready to deliver our best performance tomorrow,” said Lima.
The Brazilian coach highlighted that recent struggles stemmed largely from injuries and fitness issues within the squad, but affirmed that Nam Dinh will field their best possible lineup this time. “We’ve had difficulties because several key players were unavailable. But now, our fitness and squad depth are improving. Playing at home is a big advantage, and we’ll do everything to make the most of it,” he added.
Team captain and central defender Lucas Alves echoed the same determination, emphasizing the importance of resilience and unity. “Our goal is always to win. Playing at home gives us extra motivation and energy, and we’ll try to convert that advantage into a positive result,” said Lucas. “We know we’re going through a tough period, but that’s when we need to work harder together. The last game didn’t go as we wanted, but we’ve learned from it and made adjustments in training. I believe we’ll show a much better performance tomorrow.”
Currently, Gamba Osaka lead the group after three consecutive wins, while Nam Dinh sit in second place, aiming to close the gap and stay in contention for a knockout stage berth. A victory at home would not only restore confidence for coach Nguyen Trung Kien’s men but also keep Vietnam’s hopes alive on the continental stage.
