Hanoi, 12 November 2025 – The latest update from the Badminton World Federation (BWF) brings positive news for Vietnamese badminton, as Nguyen Thuy Linh and Nguyen Hai Dang both improved their global rankings following impressive performances at the Korea Masters 2025.
Vietnam’s top female badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh continues her strong rise on the world stage after an outstanding runner-up finish at the Korea Masters 2025, earning 5,950 points. This result raised her total to 49,410 points, helping her climb three places from world No. 24 to No. 21 in the latest BWF World Rankings.
Although this is not yet her highest career ranking — she previously reached No. 17 — the gap between Thuy Linh and the current No. 17, Mia Blichfeldt of Denmark, is now just 2,280 points. This opens a strong opportunity for the Vietnamese star to break back into the top 20 if she maintains her form at upcoming international tournaments such as the Australian Open later this month.
Nguyen Thuy Linh’s goal for the remainder of 2025 is to further improve her ranking, aiming for a higher seed position at the 33rd SEA Games in December. However, after a busy schedule and minor physical strain, she has chosen to skip the Japan Masters 2025 to ensure full recovery and avoid any risk of recurring injury.
Meanwhile, on the men’s side, Nguyen Hai Dang also made progress, climbing one spot from No. 55 to No. 54 in the BWF men’s singles rankings. Though the improvement seems modest, it reflects his consistency and determination, as he has continuously competed in multiple international tournaments in recent months.
At the Korea Masters 2025, Hai Dang reached the round of 16 in men’s singles before losing to home favorite Jeon Hyeok Jin in a hard-fought three-game match. Despite suffering a muscle strain in the decisive game, the 23-year-old from Ho Chi Minh City showed great resilience and sportsmanship, earning praise from both fans and media for his fighting spirit.
With Thuy Linh on the verge of reentering the world’s top 20 and Hai Dang steadily advancing, Vietnamese badminton continues to make encouraging strides on the international scene, setting high hopes for the SEA Games 33 and future continental tournaments.
