Que Ngoc Hai leaves Thanh Hoa after half a season, set to join struggling SHB Da Nang

Thanh Hoa, 15 November 2025 – The unexpected departure of Que Ngoc Hai has shaken Thanh Hoa supporters, and the former Vietnam captain is now poised to join SHB Da Nang — a club in urgent need of defensive reinforcement after a disastrous start to the V.League 1 2025/26 season.

The news that Que Ngoc Hai has parted ways with Thanh Hoa after only half a season has surprised many fans across Vietnamese football. According to reliable sources, the veteran centre-back is close to finalising a move to SHB Da Nang, a team currently facing severe difficulties in V.League 1 2025/26.

SHB Da Nang have endured a poor start to the campaign. After 11 rounds, the club from the Han River has collected only seven points, leaving them anchored at the bottom of the standings. Their defensive instability has been a major concern, and the potential arrival of Ngoc Hai — one of Vietnam’s most experienced defenders and a former national team captain — is expected to bring much-needed solidity and leadership to the back line at Hoa Xuan Stadium.

For Thanh Hoa, the departure of Ngoc Hai adds to a growing list of challenges. The club recently parted ways with head coach Choi Won Kwon following a string of disappointing results. Despite considerable ambition at the beginning of the season, the team has failed to maintain stability both on and off the pitch.

Worse still, Thanh Hoa are now dealing with a serious sanction from FIFA. The club has been banned from registering new players for three consecutive transfer windows, starting from November 2025. This penalty severely restricts their ability to strengthen the squad and places them in a difficult position for the remainder of the season and beyond.

With internal turbulence and limited transfer flexibility, Thanh Hoa face a tough road ahead. Meanwhile, SHB Da Nang hope that the addition of Que Ngoc Hai will spark a turnaround as they battle to escape the relegation zone in V.League 1 2025/26.
