Hung Yen, 26 November, 2025 – U17 Vietnam continued their strong run at the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers with a 2-0 victory over U17 Hong Kong, securing their third successive win and maintaining top spot in Group C.
U17 Vietnam earned their third consecutive victory at the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers, defeating U17 Hong Kong 2-0 in the third matchday of Group C. Goals from Nguyen Minh Thuy and Nguyen Manh Cuong helped the team led by coach Cristiano Roland remain firmly at the top of the standings.
Playing with confidence and control, U17 Vietnam continued to show superiority throughout the match. Nguyen Minh Thuy opened the scoring, before Nguyen Manh Cuong sealed the win with a composed finish, ensuring the team extended their perfect record at the tournament.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, head coach Cristiano Roland emphasized the importance of continual improvement. “As with every match, our job is to study the upcoming opponent carefully. After that, the coaching staff will review the details with the players to make sure they clearly understand the opponent and the tactical approach for the next game,” Roland shared. “After each match, the players must learn something. I am very proud because I can see their progress step by step. We must rest, recover and prepare well for what comes next.”
Goalscorer Nguyen Minh Thuy also expressed his joy. “I felt very happy and proud to score for U17 Vietnam,” he said. “At this tournament, coach Roland constantly rotates the squad and adjusts tactics because we have to play 5 matches in 10 days. Rotating players is necessary to protect everyone’s fitness and maintain performance.”
After three matchdays, U17 Vietnam lead Group C with nine points and an impressive goal difference of +22. U17 Malaysia also have nine points, but trail behind with a goal difference of +19.
In the fourth match, U17 Vietnam will face U17 Macau at 19:00 on 28 November at PVF Stadium in Hung Yen, where coach Roland’s side aim to extend their flawless run toward securing a ticket to the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026 finals.
