Vung Tau, 26 November 2025 – Forward Thanh Nhan insists that moving Group B of men’s football to Bangkok will not affect U23 Vietnam’s ambition of winning the SEA Games 33 gold medal, affirming the team’s readiness and determination.
Forward Thanh Nhan has affirmed that U23 Vietnam’s goals will not be disrupted despite the SEA Games 33 organizing committee’s decision to move all Group B fixtures from flood-hit Songkhla to Bangkok. Earlier today, the organizers officially relocated the group — featuring U23 Vietnam, U23 Malaysia and U23 Laos — after severe flooding in southern Thailand made travel and logistics unsafe.
Speaking about the adjustment, Thanh Nhan acknowledged that the change has a slight impact on preparation but emphasized that the team remains fully focused. “This affects our preparation a little, but it’s not a problem because the whole team continues to work hard every day,” he shared. “Entering our third day of training, the team is gradually adapting to the intensity. We will push harder, and right now we are maintaining a high workload to keep our fitness.”
Under coach Kim Sang-sik, U23 Vietnam are determined to win the SEA Games 33 gold medal — which would be the country’s third men’s football title after triumphs in 2019 and 2022. Thanh Nhan, who has missed previous SEA Games campaigns for various reasons, is seen as one of the key attacking options and hopes this will be his breakthrough edition.
“The opponents at SEA Games 33 are all strong. Indonesia and Thailand are the most difficult challenges,” Thanh Nhan noted. “We will try our best to win the gold medal. I believe our biggest opponent is ourselves. We must overcome our own limits.”
He also confirmed that U23 Vietnam will maintain their current tactical approach, similar to their displays at the 2025 AFF U23 Championship and the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers. “Each attacker has their own strength, and I do too. I will do everything I can to earn a spot,” he added.
Regarding internal competition, Thanh Nhan stressed that pressure exists in every tournament. “Everyone has to give their best. Only then can the coach choose the best players. We will train and compete with maximum effort,” he said. The forward concluded by expressing hope that Vietnamese supporters will continue to stand behind the team as they begin their SEA Games 33 campaign in Bangkok.
