Bangkok, 1 December 2025 – Arriving in Thailand on the afternoon of December 1, U23 Vietnam held their first training session at RBAC University’s training ground, mainly focusing on recovery after the flight from Ho Chi Minh City. Despite minor delays due to Bangkok traffic, the team showed great spirit and excitement ahead of the opening match against Laos.
On the afternoon of December 1, U23 Vietnam conducted their first training session in Bangkok at the RBAC University training ground, where coach Kim Sang-sik prioritised recovery exercises following the team’s flight from Vietnam. After checking in and taking a short rest at the hotel, the team travelled to the venue, though the journey was delayed by 10 minutes due to Bangkok’s notorious traffic congestion.
The training ground at RBAC University features a well-maintained natural grass surface, neatly trimmed and levelled, allowing the players to quickly regain rhythm and confidence with their first touches on Thai soil. The quality of the pitch contributed to the positive atmosphere, as the team gradually shook off the travel fatigue.

Before travelling to Bangkok, coach Kim Sang-sik had finalised his 23-man squad for SEA Games 33, and the overall mood within the team was upbeat. The players showed visible excitement and determination as they began preparations for their opening match against Laos, scheduled for 4:00 PM on December 3 at Rajamangala Stadium.
Present at the training session, VFF Vice President and Head of Vietnam’s football delegation at SEA Games 33, Tran Anh Tu, said that although preparations were somewhat affected by unexpected developments—such as venue changes due to severe flooding in southern Thailand—VFF had anticipated different scenarios and prepared appropriate response plans. He affirmed that the team’s logistics and training conditions are now stable and well-organised.
Mr. Tu also shared interesting information about the RBAC University sports complex, noting its storied history. The venue once served as the training base for the famous futsal team GHB-RBAC Chonburi, which won four Thai national futsal championships before relocating and rebranding as Chonburi Bluewave.
He expressed hope that this well-equipped and historically significant training ground would bring good fortune to U23 Vietnam as they aim for a strong start against U23 Laos, followed by the decisive match against U23 Malaysia on December 11, with the goal of securing a spot in the semifinals of SEA Games 33.
With morale high and preparations underway under coach Kim’s guidance, U23 Vietnam are ready to begin their journey in search of SEA Games glory.
