Bangkok, 6 December 2025 – After a heavy loss on opening day, Vietnam bounced back strongly by defeating Malaysia 5-2 in their second baseball match at SEA Games 33.
On the morning of 6 December, Vietnam’s national baseball team claimed their first victory at SEA Games 33, overcoming Malaysia 5-2 in a competitive second-round matchup. The Vietnamese side started sharply, taking control early and racing to a 3-1 lead in the first inning. Their fast start set the tone for the remainder of the game, though both teams continued to trade momentum in the following innings.
Vietnam added one more run in the third inning before extending their advantage with another point in the fifth. Malaysia fought back with a run in the sixth inning, but the Vietnamese defence stayed disciplined to protect the lead through the middle stages of the game. As the match progressed into the final innings, Vietnam maintained control and showed greater stability on the field.
By the ninth inning, the Vietnamese team closed out the contest effectively, securing a 5-2 victory — their first win of SEA Games 33. The result was particularly meaningful after the team suffered a tough 0-16 defeat to Thailand in their opening match on 5 December.
With morale lifted, Vietnam now look ahead to their third match of the tournament. According to the schedule, they will face Laos at 10:00 AM on 7 December at the Queen Sirikit Sports Center baseball field in Pathum Thani. A win would help the team strengthen their position in the standings and continue building confidence in their SEA Games campaign.
