Saudi Arabia, 10 January 2026 – U23 Vietnam have been rewarded with more than VND 1 billion after securing two consecutive victories in the group stage of the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026, strengthening their position in the race for a quarter-final berth.
U23 Vietnam continued their impressive run at the AFC U23 Asian Cup with a 2–1 victory over U23 Kyrgyzstan, marking their second straight win in the group stage. The result lifted U23 Vietnam to the top of Group A and put them in a strong position to advance to the quarter-finals.
To boost the team’s morale following two convincing performances, the President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and members of the VFF Executive Committee met with the squad to congratulate them on their achievements. VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan praised the fighting spirit and discipline shown by the players, and on behalf of the federation’s leadership, awarded a bonus of VND 600 million to head coach Kim Sang-sik and his team.
Earlier, after their opening 2–0 win against U23 Jordan, VFF had already handed out a VND 500 million bonus. As a result, U23 Vietnam have now received a total of VND 1.1 billion following their first two victories at the tournament.
The bonus figure is expected to rise further if U23 Vietnam continue their positive momentum and deliver a strong performance against U23 Saudi Arabia, a match that will decide the final group standings and potentially secure their place in the quarter-finals. The clash between U23 Vietnam and the host nation is scheduled to kick off at 23:30 on January 12.
