Vietnam women’s team looks ahead to 2026 with strong determination and high expectations

Hanoi,15 February 2026 – Senior officials from Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Sports Authority, and the Vietnam Football Federation visited and extended Lunar New Year greetings to the Vietnam women’s national team on the morning of February 15, as the squad continued preparations at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center.

The delegation included Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong, Vietnam Sports Authority Director Nguyen Hong Minh, and VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu. Reporting to the officials, head coach Mai Duc Chung confirmed that the team has been strictly following its training program, maintaining both the planned workload and intensity. Despite the approaching Tet holiday, the players have remained highly focused, demonstrating professionalism and strong determination as they prepare for important international objectives in 2026.

On behalf of the coaching staff and players, coach Mai Duc Chung expressed sincere appreciation for the encouragement and attention shown by the ministry, sports authority, and federation leaders. He emphasized that their support serves as a valuable source of motivation for the team to continue striving for excellence.

During the visit, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong praised the team’s dedication and discipline, especially their commitment to training during the festive period. He highlighted that the women’s national team’s achievements in recent years have played a key role in elevating Vietnam’s sporting reputation. He also reaffirmed that the ministry, sports authority, and VFF will continue to provide optimal support to help the team accomplish its goals in the year ahead.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, the officials extended their best wishes to the coaching staff, players, and their families, expressing hopes for good health, success, and further achievements in the coming year.

According to the team’s schedule, the players will return to their hometowns later that day to celebrate Tet with their families. The squad is set to regroup on February 18 to resume training and continue preparations for upcoming international competitions, with their immediate focus on the AFC Women’s Asian Cup finals in Australia this March.
