Coach Mai Duc Chung finalize squad for the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup

Hanoi, 26 February 2026 – Vietnam Women’s National Team have finalized their 26-player squad for the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, adding one more striker ahead of departure to Australia.

Forward Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan of Ho Chi Minh City Women’s Club has been called up to strengthen the attacking line. She joined the squad on February 18 as a replacement for an injured player and to provide additional firepower up front.

Head coach Mai Duc Chung expressed satisfaction with the team’s preparation. He noted that the training plan has been carried out smoothly and credited both the coaching staff and players for their dedication. According to him, the squad has regained strong form and is now fully prepared for the tournament.

He emphasized that while the team always aims higher, they have done everything within their capacity to ensure the best possible preparation. He also hopes the players can stay healthy and avoid injuries during both training and matches. The coach called on fans at home and abroad to continue supporting the team, affirming that the players will compete with maximum determination and pride.

Vietnam’s immediate objective at the 2026 Women’s Asian Cup is to advance past the group stage. The tournament will determine Asia’s representatives for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with six direct qualification spots and two intercontinental play-off places available.

Vietnam will face India on March 4, Chinese Taipei on March 7, and Japan on March 10. The top two teams in each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will move on to the quarterfinals.
