Hanoi, 27 February 2026 – On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of his election, FIFA President. Gianni Infantino sent a letter of appreciation to all 211 member associations, including the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), thanking them for their support throughout the reform process.
Marking a decade since taking office, Infantino expressed gratitude to the global football community for standing alongside FIFA during a transformative period. Reflecting on the Extraordinary Congress held in Zurich on February 26, 2016, he stated that the organization had since “brought football back to FIFA and FIFA back to football.”
He recalled assuming leadership at a time when FIFA was facing a deep crisis and a severe loss of public trust. According to Infantino, the decisions made at that Congress paved the way for a new era built on comprehensive reforms, financial transparency, and sustainable development.
Infantino emphasized that unity between FIFA and its member associations, including VFF, has been the foundation of the organization’s strong resurgence over the past ten years. He stressed that a stable, credible, and united FIFA is essential for the continued growth of the global football ecosystem.
Over the past decade, FIFA has significantly increased financial support through its Forward Programme, expanding the budget sevenfold and granting member associations greater autonomy in investment decisions. The organization has also strengthened youth development initiatives, improved governance standards, and implemented VAR technology to enhance fairness on the pitch.
In addition, both the men’s and women’s World Cups have been expanded, offering more nations the opportunity to compete on the world stage. FIFA has also launched COVID-19 relief funds, provided assistance following natural disasters and conflicts, and promoted major club competitions such as the FIFA Club World Cup as part of its long-term development strategy.
