Ninh Binh, 3 March 2026 – Ninh Binh FC have unexpectedly appointed Vu Tien Thanh, currently the Technical Director of Hoang Anh Gia Lai, as interim head coach while the club searches for a new permanent manager.
The major coaching change was officially announced on the club’s website, confirming that Vu Tien Thanh will take charge of the team on a temporary basis until procedures to appoint a full-time head coach are completed.
The decision comes just days after Ninh Binh parted ways with Spanish coach Gerard Albadalejo and his assistant Josep Maria Roma on March 2. The bold move by the club’s leadership followed a disappointing run of three consecutive defeats in the V.League, which significantly damaged their title hopes.
Under Albadalejo, Ninh Binh had enjoyed an impressive start to the season, going unbeaten in their first 11 matches and firmly occupying the top spot in the standings. However, losses to Hanoi Police FC, Hoang Anh Gia Lai, and Nam Dinh caused the team to slip to third place, now eight points behind the leaders, despite having played one match fewer.
Vu Tien Thanh is set to make his debut on the sidelines in Round 15 this weekend, when Ninh Binh host Da Nang. The fixture presents a favorable opportunity for the club to regain momentum, as their opponents are struggling near the bottom of the table and have failed to win in their last four away matches.
According to the Round 15 schedule of the V.League 1 2025–2026 season, the clash between Ninh Binh and Da Nang will kick off at 6:00 PM on March 7. The outcome of this match is expected to signal a new direction for the former capital club under their interim manager.
