Australia, 3 March. 2026 – At the official pre-tournament press conference ahead of the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, head coach Mai Duc Chung affirmed that the Vietnam Women’s National Team have completed thorough preparations and are ready to face the challenge in Group C.
On behalf of the squad, coach Mai Duc Chung expressed his appreciation to the Asian Football Confederation and Football Australia for their warm hospitality and professional organization. He highlighted the excellent arrangements regarding accommodation, training facilities, and overall logistics. “We are very satisfied with the preparation and support from the organizers. At this moment, the team is fully ready in every aspect,” he stated.
Assessing Group C, the veteran coach acknowledged the presence of strong opponents such as Japan, India, and Chinese Taipei. He emphasized that not only Group C but all groups in this final round are highly competitive. “Every team here deserves to be at this stage. Therefore, Vietnam must give our maximum effort and focus on each match step by step,” he said.
Coach Mai Duc Chung also shared his enthusiasm about competing in Australia, one of the co-hosts of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. He noted that favorable weather conditions and the expected support from the large Vietnamese community in Australia would serve as additional motivation for the players.
“We will strive to perform at our best and strictly follow the coaching staff’s plans. In football, nothing can be predicted in advance, but facing strong teams only strengthens our determination,” he affirmed.
Team captain Huynh Nhu also attended the press conference and praised the tournament’s organization. She expressed satisfaction with the living conditions, training environment, and local weather. “The whole team is in good spirits and physically stable,” she shared.
Speaking about her personal role, Huynh Nhu stressed her commitment to strictly adhering to training programs at both club and national levels. She emphasized that the coaching staff carefully monitor each player’s condition to design suitable training plans, ensuring the squad reaches peak performance. With her experience, she aims to support and guide younger teammates. “No matter where we compete, the ultimate goal is always the collective achievement of the team,” the captain concluded.
