Vinh, 4 March 2026 – According to the latest V.League transfer updates, Song Lam Nghe An have officially announced the signing of Portuguese-born striker Carlos Manuel Santos Fortes. At his new club, the forward will wear the number 22 shirt.
Fortes, born in 1994, previously represented the Portugal U21 team during the 2014–2015 period. Later in his international career, he switched to represent the Cape Verde national team and made an appearance in 2024 in a friendly match against Guinea-Bissau.
One notable detail from his youth international career is that Fortes shared the field with several well-known footballers. During his time with the Portugal U21 squad, he played in two matches alongside prominent teammates such as Bruno Fernandes, currently a main midfielder for Manchester United, and Joao Cancelo, the Barcelona full-back.
Before moving to Vietnam, Fortes spent the most recent season playing in China with Suzhou FC. During the 2025 campaign in the China League One, he scored two goals while featuring regularly for the club.
The arrival of Carlos Fortes is expected to strengthen the attacking options for Song Lam Nghe An as the club looks to improve its offensive effectiveness in the second phase of the V.League 1 2025–2026 season. With his experience playing in multiple leagues and international exposure at both youth and senior levels, the Portuguese-born striker could become an important addition to the team’s frontline.
