U17 Vietnam thrash U17 Malaysia in opening match of the 2026 ASEAN U17 Championship

Indonesia, 13 April 2026 – Vietnam U17 made a strong start at the 2026 ASEAN U17 Championship with a convincing victory over Malaysia U17.

On the afternoon of April 13, Vietnam U17 faced Malaysia U17 in their Group A opener of the 2026 ASEAN U17 Championship in Indonesia. In this match, the team coached by Cristiano Roland completely dominated and secured an emphatic 4-0 win.

From the very beginning, Vietnam U17 pushed their lineup forward, showing clear intent to score early. Their efforts paid off in the 12th minute when Le Sy Bach rose to head home from a near-post corner, beating the Malaysian goalkeeper to give Vietnam a 1-0 lead.

Growing in confidence, Roland’s players continued to pile pressure on the opposition. In the 28th minute, Le Sy Bach completed his brace. After a cut-back pass from a teammate, the number 20 forward finished decisively to double the lead.

Before halftime, Vietnam added a third goal to take firm control of the match. In the 39th minute, Dao Quy Vuong delivered an accurate cross, allowing Nguyen Van Duong to fire home and make it 3-0.

In the second half, Vietnam U17 scored once more through center-back Manh Cuong, who found the net in the 56th minute following a well-executed set-piece routine.

At full time, Vietnam U17 secured a dominant 4-0 victory over Malaysia. They will face Timor-Leste U17 in their second group match on the afternoon of April 16.
