Hanoi, 4 May 2025 – Coach Nguyen Cong Manh has become the 13th manager to leave his position after just 21 rounds of the 2025/26 V.League 1 season.
The 2025/26 V.League 1 campaign has not only been intense on the pitch but also highly unstable on the sidelines. Vietnam’s top-flight league continues to earn its reputation as a “managerial carousel,” with constant coaching changes throughout the season.
Before Nguyen Cong Manh’s departure, several other coaches had already lost their jobs, including Makoto Teguramori at Hanoi FC, Phan Nhu Thuat of Song Lam Nghe An, Nguyen Anh Duc, Dang Tran Chinh of Becamex Ho Chi Minh City, Vu Hong Viet, Nguyen Trung Kien, Mauro at Nam Dinh FC, Choi Won Kwon of Thanh Hoa FC, Thach Bao Khanh, Nguyen Thanh Cong of PVF-CAND, Gerard Albadalejo, and Vu Tien Thanh of Ninh Binh FC.
Among all clubs, Nam Dinh have made the most coaching changes with three different head coaches this season. Meanwhile, PVF-CAND, Ninh Binh, and Becamex Ho Chi Minh City have each changed managers twice since the campaign began.
At the moment, only a handful of clubs have maintained stability on the bench, including Hanoi Police FC, The Cong Viettel, Hai Phong FC, and Da Nang FC.
Among them, Da Nang’s situation is viewed as the most remarkable. Despite spending most of the season near the bottom of the table and facing heavy criticism for poor performances, the club has continued to back coach Le Duc Tuan. There were multiple reports suggesting the young manager would be dismissed, but he has remained in charge and continues fighting to keep the team alive in the relegation battle.
After 21 rounds, Da Nang have collected only 13 points and remain rooted to the bottom of the standings. Their chances of securing automatic survival now appear extremely slim. The club’s most realistic objective is to avoid direct relegation and claim a play-off spot, currently occupied by PVF-CAND, who sit one point ahead in 13th place.
