Ninh Binh, 5 May 2026 – Nam Dinh FC head into the first leg of the 2025/26 ASEAN Club Championship semi-final full of confidence, with coach Vu Hong Viet insisting his side are ready to play attacking football against Selangor FC.
Speaking ahead of the crucial clash, Vu Hong Viet revealed that Nam Dinh have completed detailed preparations and are entering the match in a positive mental state. According to the coach, the squad atmosphere has improved significantly, and the players are fully focused on the important challenge ahead.
The Vietnamese coach also expressed satisfaction after returning to lead the team, emphasizing that restoring confidence inside the dressing room had been one of his top priorities following a difficult period earlier in the season. He believes the squad have now regained both stability and belief at the perfect time.
Despite acknowledging the quality of Selangor FC, particularly their dangerous attacking players, Vu Hong Viet stated that Nam Dinh have carefully analyzed the Malaysian side and prepared suitable tactical plans.
“My football philosophy is based on attacking play, so I will not hesitate to approach the match that way tomorrow,” the coach declared. “I believe both teams will deliver an exciting and entertaining game for the fans.”
Meanwhile, defender Lucas Alves stressed the importance of securing a positive result in the first leg. The center-back said the team must take advantage of their opportunities in Kuala Lumpur before returning home for the decisive second leg.
Lucas also underlined the squad’s complete trust in the coaching staff’s tactical approach. According to him, every player has been instructed to follow the game plan closely and compete with maximum intensity throughout the match.
The first-leg semi-final between Selangor FC and Nam Dinh FC is scheduled to kick off at 8:00 PM (Vietnam time) on May 6 at MBPJ Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
