Ninh Binh, 21 May 2026 – According to the latest V.League 1 transfer updates, Nam Dinh FC have officially parted ways with foreign midfielder Percy Tau following the conclusion of the 2025/2026 season.
The decision does not come as a major surprise, as the South African player was mainly used in cup competitions rather than becoming a regular figure in the club’s V.League 1 campaign.
Since joining the club, Percy Tau made 21 appearances in all competitions but featured only eight times in V.League 1, scoring just one goal. His overall impact remained limited, including during the ASEAN Club Championship semi-finals against Selangor FC, where he started both matches but struggled to make a significant difference.
Before Tau’s departure, Nam Dinh had already released several other foreign players, including Walber Mota, Caique Santos, Njabulo Blom, and Kyle Hudlin. The wave of exits suggests the club has begun a major squad overhaul after a disappointing season.
Despite registering as many as 12 foreign players during the second phase of the 2025/2026 campaign, Nam Dinh failed to maintain consistent performances. After 23 rounds, the team currently sits seventh in the V.League 1 standings with 31 points.
The club also endured frustration in regional and continental tournaments, suffering an early elimination in the AFC Champions League Two group stage before falling in the semi-finals of the ASEAN Club Championship.
As a result, Nam Dinh are now expected to shift their focus primarily toward domestic competitions next season.
