Thanh Hoa, 22 May 2026 – Thanh Hoa FC have once again been banned by FIFA from registering new players after another complaint was filed against the V.League club over unpaid financial obligations.
FIFA officially imposed a transfer ban on Thanh Hoa on May 21, 2026, preventing the club from signing players for the next three transfer windows.
This marks the fifth time in the first five months of 2026 that Thanh Hoa have faced legal action at FIFA. The recurring issues stem from the club’s financial difficulties, including unpaid salaries and signing bonuses owed to players.
The latest sanction came shortly after Jamaican striker Rimario Gordon announced his departure from the club, leading to speculation that he may be the latest player to file a complaint with FIFA.
Earlier this season, Rimario reportedly refused to train and temporarily stopped playing due to months of unpaid wages. He only returned to action after the club settled part of the outstanding payments.
If Thanh Hoa fail to clear their debts in time, they will be unable to participate in the transfer market ahead of the 2026/2027 season, with the registration window scheduled from July 22 to September 22, 2026.
Coach Mai Xuan Hop and his squad now have less than two months to resolve the situation. Without fresh financial backing to settle debts and strengthen the team, Thanh Hoa could face major challenges next season.
Earlier this month, the club were granted a special license to compete in V.League 1 2026/2027 despite concerns surrounding finances and staffing. May 22 has been set as the deadline for the club to submit additional required documents.
On the pitch, Thanh Hoa currently sit on 24 points after 23 rounds and remain seven points clear of the relegation zone with three matches left to play, putting them close to securing survival.
Notably, the club previously succeeded in lifting four FIFA transfer bans after settling payments with four separate claimants on March 17. Since January 2026, Thanh Hoa have now been involved in five FIFA-related disputes.
