Hanoi, 27 May 2026 –Australian centre-back Dan Hall is reportedly on the verge of making the move to Vietnam, with Hanoi FC poised to sign the 26-year-old, according to journalist Marco Dodd.
Hall, who was born in Melbourne and holds dual Australian-Fijian citizenship, has spent the last two seasons with Auckland FC in the A-League, where he has made over 100 A-League appearances and established himself as one of the most experienced defenders at the club.
His contract with Auckland FC expires on June 30, 2026 , leaving him free to pursue a new challenge — and it appears that challenge will come in Southeast Asia.
Hanoi FC are managed by none other than Australian football legend Harry Kewell, making the move a particularly intriguing one for Hall. Kewell, born in 1978, is one of Australia’s most decorated footballers, having made 56 appearances for the Socceroos and won the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool in 2004-05. He arrived in Hanoi in October 2025 and has been working to bring a fresh, modern approach to the capital club.
Hanoi are the most successful club in V.League 1 history with six titles, though they last won it in 2022. Kewell has been rebuilding the squad with an eye on recapturing that domestic dominance, and Hall’s experience and physicality as a centre-back would fit that profile.
Hall contributed to the Central Coast Mariners’ historic treble in the 2022-23 season before joining Auckland FC in July 2024 , so he arrives with a winning pedigree. If the deal goes through, he would become the latest Australian to link up with Kewell’s project in Vietnam — and one of the more high-profile A-League exports to the V.League in recent memory.
