Thai Nguyen, 27 May 2026 – Ho Chi Minh City Women FC successfully defended their National Women’s Cup title after defeating Hanoi I Women FC in a dramatic penalty shootout in the 2026 final.
The championship match featured two of the strongest teams in Vietnamese women’s football. Hanoi I entered the game without key striker Pham Hai Yen due to injury, while Ho Chi Minh City Women FC fielded a star-studded lineup including Huynh Nhu, Gabriel, and Thu Xuan.
After kickoff, Hanoi I surprisingly took control of the match. Despite facing the defending champions, the capital side showed confidence in possession and impressed with their midfield combinations. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City Women FC focused on defensive organization and looked to threaten through counter-attacks and set pieces.

The best chance of the first half came from Tran Thi Thu Xuan, the recent SEA Games 33 futsal gold medalist, whose free-kick rattled the crossbar for the southern side. Hanoi I also created several promising opportunities through Bui Thi Thuong and her teammates but failed to convert them.
In the second half, Hanoi I continued to apply pressure and dominated large periods of play. Midfielder Ngan Thi Van Su played a major role in helping the capital club control the midfield battle. Even the presence of foreign player Gabriel could not significantly improve TP.HCM’s attacking rhythm. However, Hanoi I’s forwards lacked the finishing touch needed to break the deadlock.
After a tense 90 minutes ended without goals, the final was decided by penalties. In the shootout, the experience and composure of Ho Chi Minh City Women FC’s World Cup players made the difference. The defending champions won 3-0 on penalties to successfully retain the National Women’s Cup title.
