Hanoi, 9 June 2026 – Two FIFA-listed referees from Singapore have been appointed to officiate the promotion/relegation playoff between PVF-CAND and Bac Ninh FC, with a coveted place in V.League 1 2026/27 at stake.
According to the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF), experienced FIFA referees Ahmad A’Qashah Bin Ahmad Al Badowe and Muhammad Taqi Aljaafari Bin Jahari will oversee the decisive encounter. One will serve as the match referee, while the other will be responsible for VAR operations.
Both officials are highly respected figures on the international stage and have regularly been selected by both FIFA and the AFC for major competitions. Ahmad A’Qashah has held FIFA referee status since 2013 and has officiated numerous matches in the AFC Champions League, AFC Cup, Asian Cup qualifiers, and senior international fixtures.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Taqi is regarded as one of Singapore’s leading referees. A FIFA official since 2012, he has worked at prestigious tournaments including the AFC Asian Cup, FIFA U-17 World Cup, and FIFA U-20 World Cup. He was also part of the VAR team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The playoff showdown between PVF-CAND and Bac Ninh FC is scheduled for 18:00 on June 12 at Ha Tinh Stadium. The winner will secure a place in V.League 1 for the 2026/27 season, while the losing side will compete in the National First Division next year.
PVF-CAND finished second from bottom in the V.League 1 2025/26 standings, while Bac Ninh FC earned promotion playoff qualification after finishing runners-up in the 2025/26 National First Division. With top-flight status on the line, the match is expected to be one of the most important fixtures of Vietnam’s domestic football season.
