South Korea, 11 July 2026 – Vietnam National Team continued training in Incheon, South Korea, on the afternoon of July 11, as head coach Kim Sang-sik and his players entered the final phase of their overseas training camp before taking on Gangwon FC in their last warm-up match on July 13 ahead of the ASEAN Championship 2026.
Unlike previous sessions, the weather in Incheon was noticeably hotter, but the challenging conditions did little to affect the squad’s intensity. The players maintained a high level of focus throughout training and successfully completed all tactical drills assigned by the coaching staff.
Kim Sang-sik once again centered the session on defensive organization, attacking combinations, and transition play while continuing to rotate personnel in search of the most effective lineup before finalizing his squad for the regional tournament.

Speaking to reporters before training, goalkeeper Dang Van Lam praised the team’s progress after nearly three weeks together.
“I believe we’ve had a very productive training camp, along with valuable friendly matches to prepare for the ASEAN Championship 2026. We still have a few training sessions and one very important match left. Everyone is fully focused on making sure we’re as ready as possible for the tournament,” Van Lam said.
Looking ahead to the clash with K League 1 side Gangwon FC, the experienced goalkeeper described the fixture as a significant test for both the players and coaching staff.
“Gangwon FC are a high-quality opponent competing in the K League 1. I think this will be a very important match for the coaching staff to continue evaluating the squad and determine the best options before the ASEAN Championship begins.”
Competition for the goalkeeper position has also intensified, with Dang Van Lam, Patrik Le Giang, and Nguyen Trung Kien all competing for a place in the starting lineup. Despite the rivalry, Van Lam insisted his focus remains on improving himself and contributing to the national team.
“Every time I’m called up to the national team, I always try my best in training to show what I’m capable of and give everything I have for Vietnam.”
Van Lam also praised the rapid adaptation of newcomer Patrik Le Giang, noting that the naturalized goalkeeper has settled into the squad with ease.
“Patrik has been working very hard and has integrated into the team very quickly. He can communicate in Vietnamese, so everything has gone quite smoothly.”
The veteran goalkeeper was equally pleased to see center-back Do Duy Manh return to ball training after recovering from injury.
“Everyone in the team is delighted that Duy Manh is back on the pitch. We hope he makes a full recovery soon and continues to be an important part of the national team.”
Vietnam will complete its final preparations on July 12 before facing Gangwon FC a day later. Once the South Korea training camp concludes, Kim Sang-sik’s squad will return home to prepare for an international friendly against Myanmar at Thai Nguyen Stadium on July 18, before beginning the defense of its ASEAN Championship title.
