Hanoi, 29 July 2026 – FIFA has unveiled a major overhaul of its financial support system for member associations, introducing a new funding model that could provide a significant boost to football development in Vietnam.
According to an official announcement on FIFA’s website, the world governing body plans to substantially increase financial assistance for all member associations, including the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).
The increased funding will be available through the newly introduced FIFA Fast Forward Programme, which member associations can choose to join as part of FIFA’s long-term football development strategy.
Under the program, each participating association will be eligible to receive US$20 million during the 2027–2030 cycle. The amount will increase to US$22 million for the 2031–2034 period and rise further to US$24 million between 2035 and 2038, reflecting FIFA’s growing investment in the global game.
FIFA described the Fast Forward Programme as an initiative aimed at accelerating football development in every corner of the world. Participation is entirely voluntary, allowing each member association to decide whether to join the program.
The funding is intended to support a broad range of development projects, including the construction and modernization of football infrastructure, investment in youth academies and grassroots programs, and initiatives designed to strengthen the long-term sustainability of national football systems.
To demonstrate the program’s potential impact, FIFA highlighted Curaçao and Cape Verde as success stories. According to the organization, both associations benefited from FIFA development funding, helping improve their football structures before earning historic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Alongside the expanded funding initiative, FIFA also reaffirmed its confidence in FIFA Forward Enterprise, its commercial subsidiary responsible for managing the organization’s commercial operations and media rights. FIFA believes the company’s continued growth will generate additional revenue, enabling the governing body to reinvest even more resources into supporting football development across its member associations.
For Vietnamese football, the new funding model could represent a valuable opportunity. Should the VFF choose to participate in the FIFA Fast Forward Programme, the additional financial support could accelerate infrastructure projects, strengthen youth development pathways, and enhance the overall growth of football in Vietnam over the coming decade.
