Hanoi, 23 August 2026 – Hanoi Police FC have received another major boost just days after securing their historic place in the AFC Champions League Elite 2026/27, with center-back Adou Legley Minh officially obtaining Vietnamese citizenship.
Hanoi Police FC made history by defeating Adelaide United 2-0 away from home in their decisive playoff, earning a place in the League Stage of Asia’s premier club competition. The result made the reigning V.League 1 champions the first Vietnamese club to qualify for the competition under its expanded 32-team format.
Following that landmark achievement, the club announced more positive news regarding Adou Legley Minh, confirming that the defender has completed the necessary legal procedures and officially become a Vietnamese citizen.

Adou Legley Minh joined Hanoi Police FC ahead of the 2025/26 season and quickly established himself as an important member of the first team. During his debut campaign with the club, the defender earned the trust of head coach Alexandre Polking and became a key component of the team’s defensive system.
Receiving Vietnamese citizenship could significantly increase his value to Hanoi Police FC . With Adou now eligible to be registered as a domestic player, the club will have greater flexibility when managing its foreign-player quota, an important advantage as Polking prepares his squad for a demanding campaign across multiple competitions.
