VFF, UEFA and AFC launch ‘magic moves’ handbook for women’s youth football

Hanoi, 15 Oct 2026 – Vietnam Football Federation has launched Magic Moves, a new handbook designed to introduce girls aged 6–9 to football through basic skills, teamwork and life lessons. The initiative is part of a. women’s football development project supported by UEFA and the AFC for 2024–2027.

On the morning of October 15 in Hanoi, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) officially unveiled the handbook as part of its Women’s Football Development Program for girls aged 6 to 9.

Now in its second year, the program aims to make football more accessible to young girls and help build a foundation for the future of Vietnamese women’s football. The launch of Magic Moves marks a step towards that goal by providing an age-appropriate resource for introducing children to the game.

The handbook is tailored to the needs of young beginners. It helps children become familiar with the ball, learn basic football skills and develop their ability to work as a team. Its activities also incorporate life skills and team spirit, with an emphasis on creating a safe and enjoyable environment.

Through the program, girls can explore their abilities, express themselves and build confidence while taking part in football. The handbook is intended to support those experiences for both children who are new to the sport and the adults guiding their activities.

Emily Shaw, UEFA’s Head of Management Office and International Relations, underscored the value of dedicated grassroots programs for girls. She reaffirmed UEFA’s commitment to working with Vietnamese football to create a positive environment where girls can participate, gain experience and develop a lasting interest in the game.

The project is supported by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the 2024–2027 period. Sustaining its reach will depend on continued coordination among the VFF, the two confederations, clubs and schools.

By connecting football activities with a supportive learning environment, Magic Moves seeks to encourage more girls to take their first steps in the sport and help nurture future talent for Vietnamese women’s football.
