Golden Star Warriors debutant misses training session

Hanoi, 25 June 2025 – Vietnam national team continued their preparations for the 2026 ASEAN Cup with another training session in Hanoi on June 25, but goalkeeper Patrik Le Giang was absent from the squad’s workout.

His absence increased the number of unavailable players to five. Earlier, Ngo Dang Khoa, Le Ngoc Bao, Do Duy Manh, and Bui Hoang Viet Anh had all missed training due to various fitness concerns.

The coaching staff has yet to provide an official explanation regarding Patrik Le Giang’s absence. The goalkeeper, who recently earned his maiden call-up to the Vietnam national team, has attracted significant attention during the current training camp. His presence is expected to add further competition for places in the goalkeeping department ahead of the regional tournament.

Despite several players being sidelined, preparations have continued as planned. Head coach Kim Sang Sik and his coaching staff focused on tactical drills, physical conditioning, and evaluating the performances of the available players as the team builds towards the 2026 ASEAN Cup.

With several weeks remaining before the tournament begins, Vietnam still have ample time to recover their full squad. The coaching staff will be hoping the injured and absent players can return to training soon, allowing the team to fine-tune preparations with its strongest possible lineup.

The national team will remain in Hanoi for the next phase of training before entering the final stages of preparation for the tournament. While the absence of several players has presented challenges, it has also created opportunities for other squad members to showcase their abilities and strengthen their case for selection.

Vietnam will be aiming to enter the 2026 ASEAN Cup in peak condition as they look to make another strong impression on the regional stage.
