Vietnam sepak takraw wins two gold medals at ASEAN – China International tournament 2025

China, 7 June, 2025 – Vietnam’s national sepak takraw team delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 ASEAN – China International Sepak Takraw Tournament, clinching two championship titles as the competition wrapped up in China.

“Our athletes competed with great determination and spirit, and we secured two victories in the decisive final matches,” said Le Thanh Son, Head of Sepak Takraw under the Vietnam Sports Administration and Vice President cum General Secretary of the Vietnam Sepak Takraw Federation.

This year’s tournament featured eight participating teams and concluded after an intense competition day. Vietnam’s female athletes reached the finals in two categories: the women’s 4-player team and the women’s 3-player team. In both gold medal matches, Vietnam faced host nation China.

In the women’s 3-player final, Vietnam triumphed with a convincing 2-0 win, taking the sets 15-13 and 15-10 to secure the gold medal. The women’s 4-player team also emerged victorious in their final against China, earning Vietnam its second gold of the tournament.

In addition to the two gold medals, Vietnam won a silver medal in the men’s 4-player team event and a bronze medal in the men’s 3-player event. In the men’s 4-player final, despite taking the first set against Myanmar, the Vietnamese team was ultimately defeated in a 1-2 comeback (15-13, 12-15, 10-15) and had to settle for silver.

Following the tournament, the Vietnam sepak takraw team returned home and immediately regrouped in Thanh Hoa to prepare for the upcoming 2025 National Beach Sepak Takraw Championship.
