Coach Troussier Finalizes Official 26-Player Squad for Vietnam in AFC Asian Cup 2023
Recently, head coach Philippe Troussier has made the final decision on the official 26-player roster of the Vietnam national team for the AFC Asian Cup 2023.
Accordingly, 4 of the 30 players who went to Qatar for training ahead of the AFC Asian Cup 2023 had to bid farewell to their teammates: midfielders Phạm Văn Luân, Triệu Việt Hưng, Lê Văn Đô, and forward Bùi Vĩ Hào.
The French coach’s selection process for the national team was conducted very carefully. Not only based on the training process and the players’ performance in the recent “final rehearsal” match against Kyrgyzstan, but he also observed an additional training session on January 11 to ensure his decision was correct.
Before this session, coach Philippe Troussier also held a meeting to dissect the strengths and weaknesses in the team’s playstyle and positions on the field, analyzing footage from the match against Kyrgyzstan. He expressed confidence in the progress of his students and affirmed that all players present in Qatar meet his requirements in deploying the team’s playstyle.
At the Asian Cup 2023, the opponents are stronger, but it won’t be easy to defeat the Vietnam national team. “The spirit of Vietnam is never to give up. Let’s maintain that spirit as we enter the Asian Cup,” emphasized coach Philippe Troussier.
In the latest training session of the Vietnam national team, coach Philippe Troussier continued to refine ball possession skills and proactive gameplay that he and his associates have been building for the team.
Coach Troussier also spent a significant amount of time training in attack and defense coordination, enhancing the connection between lines. Good news for the team is that defender Đỗ Duy Mạnh has fully recovered from his injury and returned to high-intensity training throughout the session. Thus, as of now, the Vietnam national team is at its strongest in terms of personnel.
