Doan Van Hau Leaves Open the Possibility of Returning to the Vietnam National Team in March

Doan Van Hau and Phan Van Duc may return to the Vietnam national team for the upcoming March training camp, preparing for two matches against Indonesia in the second round of World Cup 2026 qualifiers.

In the charity match of Hanoi Police FC on January 30th, aimed at helping less fortunate athletes and former athletes, Phan Van Duc was chosen by Coach Kiatisuk to start. The player from Nghe An showed great effort during his 50 minutes on the field. He has almost fully recovered from his injury and is expected to return from the 9th round of the V-League 2023/24 season.

Previously, Phan Van Duc suffered a ligament tear during Hanoi Police FC’s 3-1 victory over Khanh Hoa in the 2023 National Cup. It took nearly a year for the 1996-born player to return to football after surgery.

Phan Van Duc’s comeback is good news for Hanoi Police FC. If he performs well in the upcoming V-League rounds, Van Duc could be called up to the Vietnam national team under Coach Troussier.

Coach Troussier is in need of intelligent players like Phan Van Duc, who are effective both in attack and defense, to defeat Indonesia in the crucial World Cup 2026 second round qualifiers in March.

Besides Phan Van Duc, several key players of the Vietnam national team such as Van Hau, Que Ngoc Hai, Hoang Duc, Tien Linh, etc., have also recovered from injuries and are ready for the March training camp.

In a recent statement, defender Doan Van Hau said, “My injury is healing well, and I hope to help the team achieve good results this season. I am very hopeful of being fit in time to join the Vietnam national team for the upcoming World Cup 2026 qualifiers.”
