Vietnam suffers defeat in their opening match of the U20 Women’s Asian Cup.

On March 4th, the Vietnam U20 Women’s National Team suffered a 0-10 defeat against the Japan U20 Women’s National Team in their opening match of Group B at the U20 Women’s Asian Cup held in Uzbekistan.

Facing the reigning U20 World Champions, the Vietnam U20 Women’s Team, led by Japanese coach Akira Ijiri, was unable to withstand the superior Japanese team.

The Vietnamese U20 female players played resiliently for the first 10 minutes, blocking most of Japan’s attacks. However, a goal by striker Matsukubo in the 11th minute broke Vietnam’s defense, leading to two more goals in the first half. All three goals for the Japan U20 Women’s Team were scored by Matsukubo.

The championship contenders, Japan, continued to dominate in the second half against the Vietnam U20 Women’s Team, adding seven more goals to finish the match with a convincing 10-0 victory. This was a game where the Japanese players gave their all, aiming to score as many goals as possible to compete with the other strong teams in the group, China U20 and North Korea U20, who tied 1-1 in their match with two beautiful long-range goals towards the end.

In the second round of Group B matches at the U20 Women’s Asian Cup on March 7th, the Vietnam U20 Team will face North Korea U20. Based on the performances in the first round, the Vietnamese girls will need to put in more effort if they hope to achieve a favorable result.
