On March 14 in Thai Nguyen, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center (under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen Province) signed contracts with the 2023 Vietnam Women’s Golden Ball winner Tran Thi Kim Thanh, Bronze Ball winner Bich Thuy, and national player Tran Thi Thu.
After ending their contracts with TP.HCM Women’s Football Club at the end of 2023, goalkeeper Tran Thi Kim Thanh, midfielder Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, and defender Tran Thi Thu decided to seek new destinations, with their next stop being Thai Nguyen T&T Women’s Football Club. The contracts for Kim Thanh, Bich Thuy, and Tran Thi Thu are for 2 years and come with remuneration commensurate with their value, talent, fame, and contributions to the Vietnam women’s national team.
At the Vietnam Golden Ball Awards Gala 2023 held on the evening of February 19 in TP.HCM, goalkeeper Tran Thi Kim Thanh won the Women’s Golden Ball, Bich Thuy won the Bronze Ball, and the Young Female Player of the Year award went to Ngoc Minh Chuyen. During the signing ceremony, the leadership of T&T Group decided to award additional bonuses to the three athletes. Accordingly, Women’s Golden Ball winner Kim Thanh received a bonus of 50 million VND. Women’s Bronze Ball winner Bich Thuy received 20 million VND. The Best Young Female Player, Minh Chuyen, received 10 million VND.
At the end of 2019, Thai Nguyen Women’s Football Team faced the risk of dissolution due to a lack of operational funds. To help the team overcome these difficulties, T&T Group decided to sponsor Thai Nguyen Women’s Football Club, providing full training equipment, a secure salary, and bonus system, allowing the players to focus on playing and contributing.
In 2022, for the first time in women’s football history, Thai Nguyen T&T Women’s Football Club pioneered in player transfers with a signing fee through contracts with Nguyen Thi My Anh, Le Hoai Luong, and Tran Thi Kim Anh. Now, Thai Nguyen T&T Women’s Football Club continues with an unprecedented move in Vietnamese women’s football by signing contracts with Tran Thi Kim Thanh, Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, and Tran Thi Thu.
The first-time provision of signing fees for women’s football not only signifies an improvement in the players’ living conditions but more importantly, marks a historic shift towards the professionalization of women’s football in particular and Vietnamese football in general.
