Furthermore, FIFA also increased the number of teams participating in the U17 World Cup finals from 24 to 48, while the number of teams in the U17 Women’s World Cup finals rose from 16 to 24. FIFA announced that Qatar would host the U17 World Cup from 2025 to 2029, while Morocco will organize the U17 Women’s World Cup during the same period.

With these changes by FIFA, Vietnamese youth football has a great chance to participate in future U17 World Cups and U17 Women’s World Cups, as the number of slots allocated to Asia will significantly increase. Detailed information will be announced by FIFA in the future.

Previously, Asia had four slots for the U17 World Cup and three slots for the U17 Women’s World Cup, determined through continental tournaments.

Vietnamese football has never participated in the U17 World Cup or U17 Women’s World Cup. In 2000, the U16 Vietnamese team came very close to qualifying for the U17 World Cup 2001 but lost to Japan’s U16 team in a decisive match for a spot in the global tournament.
