Coach Hoang Anh Tuan has given his assessment of the players after the friendly match against U23 Jordan in the early hours of April 11.
This morning (April 11), U23 Vietnam lost on penalties to U23 Jordan with a score of 3-4 after both teams tied 0-0 during regular time. This was a match where U23 Vietnam played with two different line-ups for testing purposes.
Speaking to the media after the match, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan said, “This match was very beneficial. U23 Vietnam played with two different line-ups, one for each half. Generally, things didn’t go as desired, but I saw the players perform quite well, showing very optimistic signs.
Playing with two different line-ups, the quality of U23 Vietnam’s play didn’t change between the halves, and U23 Vietnam even had chances to score. In the penalty shootout, which involves a degree of luck, U23 Vietnam lost, but overall, a draw was a fair result for both teams.”
Coach Hoang Anh Tuan also added, “Compared to tactical requirements, the players didn’t perform well, but that’s not a concern. We are still in the process of integrating. U23 Vietnam still has another 6 days to prepare for the first match against U23 Kuwait.
It’s evident that the players showed good capabilities and skills, even though tactical plays weren’t perfect, but there are optimistic signs. The players played until the last minute without any decrease in quality or intensity on the field.”
Since the match took place late at night, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan decided to adjust the schedule for April 11. Accordingly, the players will have a full day to rest and recover at the hotel. The team will return to training on April 12.
