Today, April 14th, the Vietnam U23 Futsal team arrived in Thailand, ready to participate in the highly anticipated 2024 AFC U23 Futsal Championship. Their journey started early in the morning at 5 AM from their base in Nha Be, heading towards Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.
Despite the busy morning rush at the airport, the team, led by coach Diego Raul, experienced smooth check-in and customs procedures thanks to the facilitation provided for their passage. Their flight to Bangkok took off at 8:45 AM and lasted just 1 hour and 15 minutes, allowing the team to land in Bangkok by 10:30 AM.
Upon arrival, the Vietnam team encountered minimal delays at Bangkok’s airport due to the low number of passengers, enabling them to swiftly complete immigration and baggage claim processes. Fortunately, the usually congested streets of Bangkok were unusually clear due to it being a Sunday, allowing the team to reach their accommodation at the Dusit Princess Hotel in just 30 minutes.
The Vietnam U23 Futsal team is staying in a four-star facility, with all team members accommodated on the same floor for convenience. The Dusit Princess Hotel is also hosting other teams participating in the tournament, including the Myanmar, China, and Tajikistan national futsal teams.
Despite the early morning start, the team managed to avoid fatigue thanks to the brief travel times. According to the schedule, coach Diego Raul and his team will have their first training session in Bangkok at 4 PM today.
In the 2024 AFC U23 Futsal Championship, Vietnam is drawn in Group A and will face Myanmar on April 17th, China on April 19th, and host Thailand on April 21st. The top four teams will qualify for the Futsal World Cup 2024. Should the World Cup host Uzbekistan reach the semi-finals, the four quarter-final losers will compete in a play-off to determine Asia’s fifth representative at the global event. This tournament not only presents an opportunity for Vietnam to showcase their skills on the Asian stage but also offers a chance to secure a spot at the world’s premier futsal competition.
