The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has appointed a team of referees from West Asia to officiate the upcoming match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Malaysia in the second round of the U23 Asian Cup 2024 group stage.
The match, set for April 20 at 8:00 PM, will see Iranian referee Mooud Bonyadifard taking the lead, with his fellow countrymen Saeid Ghasemi and Ildorom Alireza assisting on the lines. The fourth official for the game will be Yahya Ali Mohammad Hassan Almulla from the United Arab Emirates, while the VAR team will be managed by Ahmed Eisa Mohamed Darwish, also from the UAE.
Mooud Bonyadifard is no stranger to Vietnamese football. He previously served as the fourth official in a match where the Vietnam national team faced Japan at the Asian Cup 2023, a game that saw Vietnam lose 2-4. Notably, Bonyadifard was also the central referee during a World Cup 2022 qualifier held five years ago, where Vietnam secured a 1-0 victory over Malaysia at My Dinh Stadium. Last year, he officiated a match between Hai Phong FC and Incheon United in the preliminary rounds of the AFC Champions League 2023/2024.
