Khuat Van Khang’s direct free-kick goal against U23 Malaysia has been recognized as one of the top eight goals in the group stage of the 2024 AFC U23 Asian Cup. This stunning goal helped secure U23 Vietnam’s place in the quarterfinals and highlighted the team’s impressive performance throughout the tournament.
Nguyen Van Tung and Khuat Van Khang’s goals stood out among many during the first rounds, making it into the top 8 most beautiful goals after 24 matches played in the competition. Nguyen Van Tung’s goal came during the match against U23 Kuwait, described by the AFC as a perfect execution of technique and timing. “A deserving goal that broke through the deadlock, Nguyen Van Truong’s penetrating pass eliminated three Kuwaiti defenders, setting up Tung who beautifully finished with the outside of his boot,” commented the AFC.
The second significant goal from U23 Vietnam included in this elite list was Khuat Van Khang’s masterpiece in the 39th minute against U23 Malaysia. The AFC praised this goal, saying, “As the first half seemed destined to end goalless, Khuat Van Khang provided a solution for U23 Vietnam with a left-footed shot that soared into the top corner, leaving Malaysian goalkeeper Azim Al Amin helpless.”
In addition to these highlights, U23 Vietnam also celebrated goals from Bui Vi Hao, who scored twice, and Vo Hoang Minh Khoa, who added one to his name during the group stages. Bui Vi Hao’s double came in the victory over U23 Kuwait, which placed him among the top scorers of the group phase, just one goal shy of the leading pack.
Leading the scorers’ chart are Abdullah Radif and Ayman Yahya from the reigning champions U23 Saudi Arabia, and Lee Young-jun from U23 South Korea, each with three goals.
