The quarterfinals of the 2023/2024 Casper National Cup unfolded with thrilling matches. Out of four quarterfinal matches, three had to be decided by dramatic penalty shootouts.
Thanh Hoa, after drawing 1-1 with Hai Phong, secured their place in the semifinals by winning the penalty shootout 4-2. Similarly, Nam Dinh and The Cong Viettel advanced by overcoming Binh Duong and PVF CAND in penalty shootouts, respectively.
Hanoi FC was the only team to secure a place in the semifinals without needing a shootout. The team from Hang Day Stadium defeated Da Nang 2-1, thanks to a brace from Hai Long.
As a result, all four home teams in the quarterfinals have advanced to the semifinals. According to the draw, Thanh Hoa will face Nam Dinh in the semifinals of the Casper National Cup 2023/2024, while Hanoi FC takes on The Cong Viettel.
Currently, Thanh Hoa is the defending champion, while The Cong Viettel is the runner-up. If both teams perform well, they may recreate last season’s final.
For The Cong Viettel, this marks the second consecutive season they face Hanoi FC in the Casper National Cup. Last season, the two teams met in the round of 16, with The Cong Viettel winning 2-1.
