Tomorrow, May 17, the U19 Vietnam national team will commence their first training session of 2024 in preparation for the 2024 Southeast Asia U19 Championship and the 2025 AFC U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers.

Head coach Hua Hien Vinh has selected a total of 29 players for this training camp. The roster includes several players who have progressed from the U17 Vietnam team that competed in the 2023 AFC U17 Asian Cup in Thailand last June, as well as those who participated in the U18 Seoul Eou Cup friendly tournament in South Korea in October 2023. Additionally, some players who took part in training programs with J.League clubs in Japan, as part of the collaboration between the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Japan Football Association (JFA), are also highlighted in this list. Notable names include defender Nguyen Quoc Khanh (trained with Jubilo Iwata FC), Dang Thanh Binh (trained with Yokohama FC), and midfielder Pham Nguyen Quoc Trung (trained with Mito Hollyhock).

However, this training roster does not yet feature all the top talents of the U19 age group, as many players are still committed to their respective clubs for domestic competitions.

The U19 Vietnam team will hold their first training session tomorrow morning (May 17) at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center.

On June 2, coach Hua Hien Vinh and his squad will travel to China to participate in the U19 International Football Tournament organized by the Chinese Football Association. This tournament, which includes U19 teams from China, Uzbekistan, and South Korea, is seen as a valuable “test of fire” for the U19 Vietnam team ahead of the 2024 Southeast Asia U19 Championship and the subsequent 2025 AFC U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers.

This intensive training and competitive exposure are crucial for the team as they aim to achieve significant success in the upcoming international competitions. The players and coaching staff are focused on building a strong, cohesive unit capable of competing at the highest level in their age group.
