Huynh Ha Huu Hieu, a prominent Vietnamese Muay Thai athlete, clinched the 2024 Muay Thai World Championship title after a thrilling 29-28 victory against Russian opponent Sofia Istratova in the women’s 45kg final.

The final bout was intense and tightly contested. Hieu managed to take the lead in the first two rounds, scoring 10-9 in both. However, the final round saw Istratova mount a strong comeback, pushing Hieu to her limits. Despite losing the final round 9-10, Hiếu’s earlier efforts secured her a narrow 29-28 overall victory, earning her the world champion title.
This victory marks Hiếu’s third world championship, adding to her previous titles from 2019 and 2021. Her consistent performances and ability to maintain composure under pressure have solidified her status as one of the top athletes in Muay Thai globally.
