Becamex Binh Duong part way with coach Le Huynh Duc

Binh Duong FC has officially parted ways with head coach Le Huynh Duc following their defeat to Hai Phong FC in Round 23 of the V.League 1- 2023/2024 season.

In their recent match, Binh Duong faced a 1-3 defeat against Hai Phong at Lach Tray Stadium. This loss marks the fourth consecutive defeat for Le Huynh Duc’s team and their seventh consecutive away defeat. As a result, Binh Duong has fallen to eighth place on the league table with 33 points, trailing second-place Binh Dinh by seven points and league leaders Nam Dinh by eleven points.

The Decision to Part Ways

The recent poor performance has significantly influenced the decision to part ways with Coach Le Huynh Duc, who had previously helped the team avoid relegation last season and had led them to the top tier for two-thirds of this season.

Reports indicate that Coach Le Huynh Duc requested to step down due to health reasons following a meeting with the club’s management. Assistant coach Nguyen Quang Hai is also expected to resign alongside his mentor. Nguyen Duc Canh will temporarily take over the coaching duties as Binh Duong prepares for their upcoming match against LPBank Hoang Anh Gia Lai at home on June 20.

Potential Successors

Speculation is rife regarding potential successors for the head coach position. Among the names mentioned is Coach Popov, whose contract with Thanh Hoa FC is set to expire. Popov has significantly transformed Thanh Hoa FC, leading them to win the National Cup and Super Cup, marking the most successful period in the club’s history.

Another candidate being considered is Thach Bao Khanh, known for leading the Police team to promotion (now known as Hanoi Police FC). However, Bao Khanh is set to attend an AFC Pro License coaching course in July, which could be a hindrance.

Coach Tran Minh Chien, who previously worked at Binh Duong and led them to win the National Cup in 2018 and secure a spot in the 2019 AFC Cup, is also in the running. However, his current commitment as the head coach of the U17 Vietnam national team may pose a challenge.

Immediate Future

With Nguyen Duc Canh temporarily taking over, Binh Duong FC aims to stabilize and prepare for the next crucial match against LPBank HAGL. The club’s management is expected to make a swift decision regarding the new head coach to ensure the team remains competitive for the remainder of the season.

The upcoming rounds are critical for Binh Duong as they look to recover from their recent slump and finish the season strongly. The decision on the new head coach will be pivotal in shaping the team’s strategy and performance in the crucial matches ahead.
