The final matches of the qualifying round for the 2024 Shopee Cup 2024 concluded with predictable outcomes. Shan United (Myanmar) triumphed over Kasuka (Brunei) with a 3-1 victory in the second leg, securing a 4-2 aggregate win.
Meanwhile, Svay Rieng (Cambodia), despite trailing in the second leg, managed to turn the game around with a 5-1 victory against Young Elephants (Laos), thanks to the outstanding performance of their Brazilian players. The comprehensive 8-3 aggregate victory secured Svay Rieng’s place in the group stage.
Notably, both Svay Rieng and Shan United will join Group A of the tournament, alongside Thanh Hoa FC, BG Pathum United (Thailand), Terengganu (Malaysia), and PSM Makassar (Indonesia). Group B will feature Hanoi Police FC (Vietnam), Borneo Samarinda (Indonesia), Lion City Sailor FC (Singapore), Kaya FC Iloilo (Philippines), Buriram United (Thailand), and Kuala Lumpur City (Malaysia).
The teams will compete in a single round-robin format in the group stage, with each team playing five matches. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, followed by the final. The semi-finals and final will be played in a home-and-away format, similar to the ASEAN Cup (formerly AFF Cup) for national teams.
