This afternoon, on July 28th, the Hanoi Football Club announced the appointment of Le Duc Tuan as their new head coach. The team is set to regroup and begin preparations for the upcoming 2024/2025 season, which is scheduled to kick off in mid-September.
Le Duc Tuan, born in 1982, is one of the first 22 coaches in Vietnam to hold a Pro license, the highest coaching qualification within the AFC system. He is the son of the renowned defender Le Khac Chinh, who was a prominent figure in Vietnamese football during the late 1970s and 1980s. Le Duc Tuan himself developed as a player at the youth academy of the Vietnam Railway Club. He later joined Hanoi ACB in 2000 and played for Thanh Hoa from 2011 to 2015.
In 2015, at the age of 33, Le Duc Tuan retired from professional play and transitioned into coaching. He began his coaching career as an assistant with the Vietnam U16 national team and later took on the head coach role at Phu Dong Ninh Binh. Under his leadership, the team won the Second Division in 2018 and earned promotion to the First Division in 2019. In 2020, Tuan joined the Hanoi Youth Football Training Center.
In 2022, Le Duc Tuan led a talented generation of players, including Nguyen Van Truong, Nguyen Van Tung, and Vu Tien Long, to victory in the National U19 Championship. This success led to his promotion as an assistant coach for the first team at Hanoi FC. The upcoming 2024/2025 season marks a significant turning point in his coaching career as he takes on the head coach position.
Reflecting on his new role, Le Duc Tuan acknowledged the challenges and pressures that come with being the head coach of a highly ambitious club like Hanoi FC. “The position of head coach is always a great pressure for anyone, especially at a club with high ambitions like Hanoi FC. For me, this is a motivation to perfect myself and implement the ideas I have been nurturing for a long time. I will try to do my best in this job and hope to receive support for the new and fresh aspects of the team on the upcoming journey. We are ready!” he expressed.
Le Duc Tuan’s appointment comes at a critical time for the club, as they aim to rebuild and strengthen their squad for the new season. With a focus on both domestic success and strong performances in international competitions, the leadership at Hanoi FC is optimistic that Tuan’s fresh perspective and experience will lead the team to new heights. The fans and supporters of the club eagerly await the impact of their new coach and the exciting changes he promises to bring to the team.
