Ho Chi Minh City FC signs Malaysian striker on loan

In the latest V-League transfer news, Ho Chi Minh City FC has secured the services of Malaysian striker Endrick Dos Santos for the 2024/2025 season. The announcement was recently made by Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), the club that currently holds Dos Santos’ contract.

According to the official statement from JDT, Endrick Dos Santos will join Ho Chi Minh City FC on a one-year loan deal. JDT’s Executive Director, Alistair Edwards, expressed his best wishes for Dos Santos in his new venture, saying, “Johor Darul Ta’zim wishes Endrick Dos Santos all the best as he embarks on this new chapter in Vietnam. We hope this move will allow Endrick to gain valuable experience.”

Endrick Dos Santos, originally from Brazil, became a naturalized Malaysian citizen in 2021 and has since been called up to represent the Malaysian national team. The 1995-born forward has made 27 appearances for JDT over the past three seasons, scoring five goals and providing two assists.

However, Dos Santos has struggled with form in the current season, having only made two appearances without scoring any goals. This has led to some doubts about his ability to make a significant impact at Ho Chi Minh City FC, where he will be playing at Thong Nhat Stadium.

The signing of Endrick Dos Santos adds to a growing list of new acquisitions by Ho Chi Minh City FC as they prepare for the upcoming season. The club has also signed several other notable players, including Adriano Schmidt, Bui Tien Dung, Tran Van Tien, Tran Manh Cuong, and Nguyen Manh Cuong.

As Ho Chi Minh City FC gears up for the 2024/2025 V-League season, all eyes will be on whether Endrick Dos Santos can rediscover his form and become a key player for the team. While his recent performances have raised questions, the club and its supporters will be hoping that the change of scenery and the opportunity to play in Vietnam’s top league will reignite his goal-scoring abilities.

The addition of Dos Santos to the squad reflects Ho Chi Minh City FC’s ambition to strengthen their attack and improve their standings in the V-League. With a mix of experienced players and promising new signings, the club is looking to make a strong showing in the upcoming season. The success of this loan move could be crucial in determining the team’s offensive capabilities and overall performance as they aim to compete at the highest level of Vietnamese football.
