U21Vietnam is set to compete in an international four-nation tournament in China, where they will face off against Malaysia, Uzbekistan, and the host nation, China. This tournament will take place in Changsha from September 2 to September 10, 2024.

Recently, head coach Kim Sang-sik called up a list of 35 players to the Vietnam U22 team as part of a broader strategy to assess and build the squad for future long-term objectives. As a result, many young and promising players have been selected by the South Korean coach for this phase of preparation.

According to the plan, after completing the first training camp of 2024, the group of U19/U20 players will transition to training with the Vietnam U20 team to prepare for the 2025 AFC U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers.

The Vietnam U22 team will then hold another training camp at the end of August 2024. During this camp, the team, primarily composed of U21 players, will regroup to participate in the international U21 football tournament organized by the Chinese Football Association. This tournament in Changsha will feature teams from Vietnam, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, and China, providing a valuable opportunity for the young Vietnamese squad to gain experience and test their skills against strong international opponents.

The participation in this tournament is a crucial part of Vietnam’s preparation for upcoming regional and continental competitions, as it allows the coaching staff to evaluate the players’ performance in a competitive environment. Fans and followers of Vietnamese football will be keen to see how the U21 team performs in this challenging tournament as they represent the country’s next generation of football talent.
