If there are no last-minute changes, goalkeeper Dang Van Lam is poised to join the Ho Chi Minh FC youth team on a four-year contract, with a signing bonus reportedly reaching 27.2 billion VND.
The Ho Chi Minh FC youth team, which recently secured promotion to the V.League 2 for the 2024/25 season, has confirmed that Van Lam will be joining their ranks. Previously, the club also signed Minh Hoang, a goalkeeper from Binh Dinh with Hue origins. A representative from the club stated, “We were not entirely confident with our current goalkeepers, so we decided to recruit Van Lam. Initially, we aimed to sign goalkeeper Van Phong, but he renewed his contract with The Cong Viettel, so we turned to Van Lam to support our promotion ambitions.”
According to our sources, Van Lam will sign a four-year contract with the Ho Chi Minh FC youth team, with a signing bonus amounting to 27.2 billion VND, averaging nearly 6.8 billion VND per season. While it is challenging to determine if this amount is high or low, insiders indicate that “the figure was carefully calculated, particularly for the fourth year, considering that Van Lam will be older by then.” In addition to the signing bonus, Van Lam will receive a substantial monthly salary. The Ho Chi Minh FC youth team is sponsored by a bank with the Vietnamese name “Loc Phat,” which implies that the goalkeeper’s salary will be significant and calculated in millions of VND.
Typically, clubs disburse signing bonuses in multiple installments throughout the season. However, the Ho Chi Minh FC youth team has agreed to pay 50% of the bonus upfront because “Van Lam wants to settle down in Ho Chi Minh City.” This means that the Vietnam national team goalkeeper will receive approximately 14 billion VND in the first installment.
Currently, Van Lam still has one year left on his contract with Binh Dinh, so the Ho Chi Minh FC youth team must complete the necessary procedures to secure his signature. Regarding the timing of his arrival at the V.League 2 club, a club member mentioned, “The official date will be announced in 1-2 days, but it is almost certain that Van Lam will be in action from the start of the new season.”
This move signals the Ho Chi Minh FC youth team’s strong commitment to achieving success in the upcoming season, with the addition of a high-caliber player like Dang Van Lam expected to bolster their chances of competing at the highest level.
