Ahead of the friendly match scheduled for the evening of September 8, Kamil Kozák, head coach of Czech Republic club Pardubice, praised the Vietnam women’s national team, acknowledging their quality and experience on the global stage.
At 8 p.m. tonight (Vietnam time), the Vietnam women’s national team, led by coach Mai Đức Chung, will play their second match of their European training tour in September 2024. Their opponent is Pardubice, a Czech Republic club known for its strong domestic presence.
Speaking before the game, coach Kamil Kozák expressed his excitement about the unexpected opportunity. “This match came to us quite unexpectedly,” Kozák shared. “Initially, we were scheduled to play Bielawa from Poland, but they canceled. Soon after, we received a proposal to play a friendly against the Vietnam national team, and we didn’t hesitate to accept.”
The Pardubice coach highlighted the significance of facing a national team of Vietnam’s caliber. “Vietnam is a strong team. They just competed in the World Cup last year. It’s not every day that we get to face a national team at such a high level. They have skilled players with impressive speed,” he remarked.
While acknowledging the challenges that his team would face, Kozák stressed the importance of such matches for his players’ development. “The upcoming game will be tough for Pardubice, but it’s a valuable experience for our girls. Matches like this don’t happen often, so we welcome the challenge. I hope many fans will come to support both Pardubice and Vietnam to make it a memorable game.”
The friendly match between Vietnam and Pardubice will take place at Pod Vinicí Stadium, which is more than 100 kilometers away from the Vietnamese squad’s current training base. This fixture is part of the Vietnam women’s team’s preparation as they continue to build on their international experience, following their participation in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Vietnam’s coach, Mai Duc Chung, will likely use the match to test different formations and give more players the opportunity to gain match fitness ahead of their upcoming tournaments. Their first game of the European tour, a 0-2 loss to Leipzig, provided valuable lessons and further motivation as the team looks to improve with each outing.
For Pardubice, the game presents a rare opportunity to compete against a team of global standing, offering their players invaluable exposure and experience against international-level competition. Fans in attendance can expect an exciting match as both teams look to showcase their skills and gain important lessons from this friendly encounter.
With both teams eager to make the most of the opportunity, the match promises to be a competitive and engaging fixture, drawing interest from fans and local media alike.
