Nam Dinh to face a strong foreign-laden squad in AFC Champions League Two first game

On the evening of September 18, Nam Dinh FC will begin their journey in the 2024/2025 AFC Cup with a challenging match against Lee Man FC from Hong Kong. The reigning V-League champions face a formidable opponent, as Lee Man FC is expected to field a squad featuring up to 10 foreign players, with the exception of the goalkeeper position.

According to the match roster submitted to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), Lee Man FC has the potential to field a lineup that includes two naturalized players—striker Everton Camargo and defender Dudu—alongside eight fully foreign players. These international stars span various positions, covering the entire field except for the goalkeeper, which will be occupied by a local player.

Lee Man’s foreign contingent includes players with a wealth of experience and diverse backgrounds: Ryoya Tachibana (Japan), Mitchel Paulissen (Netherlands), Henri Anier (Estonia), Jiloan Hamad (Iraq), Kim Min Kyu (South Korea), Paulinho Simionato (Brazil), Gaizka Martínez (Spain), and Samuel Rosa Gonçalves (Brazil). These players strengthen Lee Man’s lineup across all areas, adding depth and international pedigree to the squad.

Nam Dinh, representing Vietnam, is well-prepared for this year’s AFC Cup and will be able to field up to seven foreign players in the match. Their squad includes Brazilian forward Rafaelson, who is currently undergoing the process of becoming a naturalized Vietnamese citizen, alongside Lucas Araujo, Walber Mota, Joseph Mpande, Caio César, Hendrio, and Lucas Silva. This year, the AFC has changed its regulations regarding foreign players, allowing teams to register and use an unlimited number of foreign players for AFC competitions.

Nam Dinh will be looking to make a strong start in this highly competitive tournament, but they will face a tough test against a Lee Man squad loaded with experienced international talent. The match will kick off at 7:00 PM on September 18 at Mongkok Stadium in Hong Kong.

Both teams will be eager to claim an early victory in what promises to be an exciting and challenging campaign.
