Paok Women BC recently shared a post in three languages—Greek, English, and Vietnamese—highlighting the record-breaking performance of Kaylynne Truong in a basketball game. The post celebrated her remarkable debut for the Greek club, marking a historic moment for both the team and Truong.
The post reads:
“Η Ασπρόμαυρη Βίβλος (The Black and White Bible) wrote about Kaylynne after yesterday’s game:
Kaylynne Truong’s 32 points represent the best debut performance by a basketball player in PAOK’s history. Before this, Nukiya Mayo held the record with 25 points in her first game back in 2020.
At the same time, this is the second-best Cup game performance, after Kierra Mallard’s 33 points in 2017.
The Vietnamese-American player successfully made 8 out of 12 three-point shots yesterday, the most ever recorded in a Cup game. This record had stood since 2010, with Nausicaa Stavridou’s five three-pointers.
Kaylynne’s eight three-pointers in one game are the second most in the club’s history, following Dimitra Telidou’s nine in 2014. In the same season, Niki Avery also hit eight threes (from 15 attempts) against Hippocrates Kos in another match.
Her 67% shooting accuracy from beyond the arc yesterday is the highest in PAOK history for any player making double-digit attempts in a game, surpassing Renia Karlafti’s 60% (6/10) from 2021.”
A Record-Breaking Debut
Kaylynne Truong, an American basketball player of Vietnamese descent, made headlines with her extraordinary performance, breaking multiple records during her debut for PAOK. Her 32 points in the game not only secured her the top debut in the club’s history but also showcased her exceptional shooting skills. By converting 8 out of 12 three-point attempts, Truong displayed remarkable accuracy, setting a new record for the most three-pointers in a Cup game for PAOK.
The previous record of five three-pointers had been held by Nausicaa Stavridou since 2010, making Truong’s performance a significant milestone in the club’s history. A Star in the Making
Truong’s debut has placed her among PAOK’s elite players, with her three-point shooting tying her for second place in the club’s history for most three-pointers made in a single game. The only player with more is Dimitra Telidou, who sank nine three-pointers in a 2014 game. Truong’s eight makes from deep also match the performance of Niki Avery, who achieved the same feat during the 2014 season against Hippocrates Kos.
The significance of Truong’s debut extends beyond just the points she scored. Her ability to take control of the game and lead her team to victory is a testament to her skill and determination. Playing in a competitive European league like Greece’s Women’s Basketball League is no small feat, and Truong’s instant impact on the team is a promising sign for the season ahead.
