VFF nominated by AFC for an important award of the year

The AFC has officially announced the nominees for its annual awards, with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) receiving recognition in two categories.

The AFC Annual Awards celebrate outstanding achievements by individuals and organizations in Asian football. This year’s award ceremony will take place on October 29, 2024, in Seoul, South Korea. Ahead of the event, the AFC has released the shortlist for several prestigious categories.

In the category of “Member Association of the Year,” which honors football federations with remarkable achievements throughout the year, the VFF has been nominated in the Diamond tier—the second-highest ranking after Platinum. Alongside Vietnam, the football associations of China and Thailand have also been nominated in this category.

Vietnam is also featured in the nominations for the “AFC President Recognition Award for Grassroots Football” in the Bronze tier. This award acknowledges federations with significant contributions to youth development and grassroots football. The VFF shares the nomination with the football associations of Chinese Taipei and Cambodia.

In the most prestigious category, “AFC Player of the Year (Men),” the top three nominees include Yazan Al Naimat (Jordan national team and Al Ahli SC/Al Arabi SC), Seol Young-woo (South Korea national team and Ulsan Hyundai/Crvena Zvezda), and Akram Afif (Qatar national team and Al Sadd SC).
